The Aligned Fitness Methodâ„¢

Pilates Isn't One of the Things We Do. It's the Foundation for Everything We Do.

Pilates gave us more than a workout. It taught us how to move. Its principles, alignment, breath, precision, control, concentration, and mind body connection, guide everything we do at Aligned. The Aligned Fitness Methodâ„¢ is how we build from that foundation.

The Aligned Methodâ„¢ Philosophy

Alignment is the ability to organize, control, and move your body efficiently.

Our bodies need different things to stay strong and capable as we age. We need stability to support our joints and control our movement. We need muscle to maintain strength and support our bones. We need mobility to move freely through the ranges our bodies were designed to use. And we need endurance and power so we can sustain effort, react quickly, and absorb force when life demands it.

That is why the Aligned Fitness Method™ is built around four essential pillars of physical fitness: control, strength, mobility, and endurance.

We slow movement down because removing momentum requires your muscles to work harder and teaches your body to stabilize and maintain control. We progressively increase resistance because maintaining muscle becomes increasingly important as we age. We move through greater ranges and different directions because mobility isn't simply about being flexible. It's about having strength and control within your range.

And sometimes, we move fast. If you trip or lose your balance, your body needs to be able to react quickly. Jumping and other explosive movements train your ability to produce and absorb force, while appropriate impact also provides an important stimulus for bone health.

Your body needs to know how to maintain control when you have time to move slowly and how to respond when you don't.

The goal isn't to be good at one kind of exercise. It's to build a body that can do all of these things.
